A Look Inside Tampa’s Newest Italian Hotspot

Our team, especially our lead designer, Hilary, has always dreamed of the opportunity to design for a restaurant. That opportunity recently presented itself to us when a good friend, Chef Bryce Bonsack of Tampa’s newest Italian hotspot, Rocca, approached us with the tall task of pulling together a cohesive modern yet traditional look for their space in a 3-week window before the restaurant’s opening night.

The heart behind this project was to create a modern dining space that brings the true Italian “al fresco” dining experience indoors, while incorporating tasteful hints of a family dinner you may have shared in years past at your grandmother’s house. The kind of dinner where you were served on fine china, broke the best bottle of wine and leaned in close to conversation your family lingered long into the night around the table.

This was labor love from start to finish and with 3 days to dream up our design plan and 3 weeks to work for life couldn’t be more proud the finished product.

Inside the Restaurant

We really wanted the feel of restaurant to timeless with modernized twist. A nostalgic design with character and thoughtful hints of rich Italian tradition. We were able to accomplish this by focusing on bringing the outdoors inside with some beautiful plants from Bloom Garden Shop of South Tampa, adding custom artisanal metal panels throughout the space and incorporating a chic accent wall in the dining room finished with Venetian Plaster by Exotic Wall Finishes based out of Miami, FL.

To the left of restaurant is a courtyard where Rocca plans to extend the footprint to make more room for guests waiting on tables and offer outdoor seating. With an incredible view of Tampa’s skyline, can’t think of better spot to wind down from workday, enjoy the sunset and experience perhaps our favorite Italian tradition, the aperitivo.

Before + After

We can’t believe we were able to pull off this project! We couldn’t have done it without our talented HGC team and vendors who helped bring Rocca’s vision to life. Rocca is officially open for business as week and we hope you’ll enjoy freshest pasta in Tampa and experience the restaurant in person.
